Ornamental Value/Landscape Use
Chicagoland green boxwood was introduced in 1994. Chicagoland grows as a hardy, dense growing hybrid of boxwood. A broadleaf evergreen with foliage typical of most deciduous plants, boxwood retains its leaves year-round, which are dark green, small and curved.
A slow- to medium-growing shrub, Chicagoland green boxwood is well suited for many landscapes including inner city landscapes subject to pollution, suburban yards, and more formal gardens. Boxwood grows naturally into a dense, compact, and rounded shrub, but can be neatly sheared as well. Boxwood is generally deer, insect, and disease resistant.
